OUR RATING
Malindi Museum has a multitude of historical information, artwork, crafts, and artifacts reflecting the past of Malindi and the history of the tribes that live there. Tourists come from every corner of the World to explore it wonders and discover the rich and ancient history of the land and its people.
Originally placed there in the nineteenth century, Malindi Museum is architectural marvel in its own right. The building on which it stands (originally called the “House of Columns.”) was constructed in 1891 by Adhussein Gulamhussein. It has been multiple things in its life. It housed government offices such as fisheries and wildlife before being transformed in 2004 to this amazing museum.
The Museum reflects the rich tapestry of life in Malindi showing the fascinating stories about the history of Malindi, its people, and the aquatic ecosystem found in the Indian Ocean.
If there is one place you have to visit in Malindi it has to be this museum.
